Writing the Word Titus | The Pineapple Porch

The early church did not have it easy. Shortly after Christ ascended into heaven, believers were met heavy opposition – from social disdain to extreme persecution. Paul writes to Titus to remind him of the high calling we have as members of Christ’s holy church and to explain the importance of church structure and the people who fill those leadership roles.

Today in America, Christianity is widely accepted, but we cannot get comfortable in that and forget that we as believers have a job to do and that others across the world are suffering and dying for the same message we claim. We have a mission, a calling, and a responsibility to live a life that is set apart for God’s glory. The book of Titus is an incredible reminder “to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God.” (Titus 2:12, NLT) Let’s allow the Holy Spirit to speak to our hearts on what we still have to learn, where we need to change, and what we need to remember once again.

Thank you so much for writing the Word with us. It is an honor to walk through Scripture with you! Also, please follow along with us on our Facebook page and Instagram as we will be posting short devotions that correspond with each day’s writing. And make sure to comment – we would love to hear what God is teaching you throughout this month.

As always, happy writing!
