Free Cheap Fall Activities | The Pineapple Porch

It’s fall, yall!  The weather is beautiful, the scenery is gorgeous and there are so many things to do. With my schedule busy and my favorite season in full force, I love to put together a seasonal bucket list. Not only does a fall bucket list help me compile what I want to be intentional about this season, but it also helps me decide how to rest, how to spend time with loved ones, how to make the most of this God-given season, and how to personally reach out to others who may need some encouragement. So, I’ve got some free (or cheap) ideas and ways to make the most of the season, spend time having fun with family, or loving on others around us!

Walk around a local farmer’s market, try all the samples and have a conversation with the people who are growing and making the food. (You could also do a scavenger hunt at the farmer’s market with your kids, teaching them colors or different food types!)

Visit an apple orchard and go apple picking

Make homemade recipes from your farmers market and apple picking adventures

Open the doors and windows of your house and spend a quiet morning reading or praying

Attend a Friday night football game

Go on a one-day road trip to see the leaves changing

Start a thankful journal (write in it daily and continue it throughout the rest of the year)

Have a scarf exchange with friends (I got this idea from Shay Shull over at Mix and Match Mama!)

Attend a Fall Festival

Make your house smell like fall (I love simmering potpourri, and my favorite recipe is this one!)

Visit a pumpkin patch and then decorate and display the pumpkins

Go to a corn maze

Clean out your closet and donate warm clothes you won’t be wearing this season to a local shelter

Bake a pie for a neighbor

Invite someone (who doesn’t have family nearby or maybe cannot afford to buy Thanksgiving for their family) to your Thanksgiving celebrations

Have a bonfire & smores

Hike or bike in the mountains (If you’re in the south, we love biking the Virginia Creeper trail!)

Watch an autumn inspired movie (do a quick google search to find tons of articles on fall movie classics like Remember the Titans, or set your DVR for all the Fall movies on the Hallmark Channel)

Take a half day to go technology-free and spend it outside

Host a two-hand touch football game

Make yummy homemade soup

Do a 5K or walk/run benefit

Decorate your home for fall (we have tutorials for cheap DIYS – click here for: wreath, table runner, mantle sign)

Crank up our fall worship playlist and get to decorating, cleaning, baking or go on a long walk

Perfect your pumpkin or pecan pie recipe

Treat a friend to a pumpkin spice latte

Visit someone who is homebound or a nursing home and bring fall-flavored baked goods (call before to check for diet restrictions)

Take a long walk and crunch the leaves under your feet
